2012 GMC Terrain SunRoof Drain Issue

Hello, my 2012 GMC Terrain is leaking from the Sunroof drains. The driver side is leaking from right under the dash and the passenger is leaking from under the dash and from the o crap handle. Anyone have a diagram for the terrain or know where I should go to fix it? I tried blowing some air in it and it did nothing. Thanks

When you say the air did nothing, do you mean you couldn't blow through it?

1. I did look on youtube but could not find the Terrain... I know it can be different depending on the car.
2. I did try air and it blows fine but the leak is still happening.

I am thinking on taking off the side curtains and see where the tubes lead but would be easier if I could just fine exactly where the tube meets the (door or inside the firewall)... Not sure which it uses.

Have you tried to poke a fairly stiff length of wire - say 8-10 ft. to see if it exits at the bottom of the vehicle ? That will verify that the drains are open.

Re: 2012 GMC Terrain SunRoof Drain Issue

If you can blow through it, its possible it's not the cause of your leak. Start with a cup and slowly pour a lot of water down the drains. If it drains quickly (and there is nothing in the car) it's probably something like a body side seal.

It also helps to go a manual carwash and spray it down while watching/feeling inside. A sunroof will leak, that is why there are drains, but it shouldn't leak that much unless it's broke.

You'd have a have a hole in the drain tube for the water to drain, but still flood the car.

I put a cup of water in the sunroof drain in which I was able to successfully see the leak from the bottom of the panel near the hood latch on the driver side and the passenger side o crap handle.

A drain tube may also be detached from the sunroof drain orifice.

I am now experiencing the same issue. The R side drain tube became disconnected from the sunroof. I was not aware of the issue until mold began growing on the carpet. The repair is covered under my comprehensive coverage. it will cost me my deductible.
