Need Help On a 2008 Equinox Sport.

We took the truck to the SMOG test. It fail the reason was because of the time chains need a change. So my dad and I bought new time chains. So we follow the steps on the guide given to us. No luck there we did it once more, so we call my brother to help us out and well nothing. The truck has been in the garage for a year now. Also the battery is new we bought it yesterday. So hope with a picture and a video i hope you helpful people can help me out. Im doing this for my mom since its her baby.

Several questions.
Engine G6?
How many miles?
History of problems?
What led to the conclusion it was a timing chain?

My guess is that when you installed the timing chain, you did not align it correctly, and the timing is off, and while it may be firing, it may be at the wrong point in the piston stroke.

Just my $0.02

what lead the the timing chains, well the people at the SMOG test told us that was the issue, and it cant pass the test. We align all the points the way it was. And how it was instructed.

My thoughts thoughts too.
I guess I would be a bit scared to tackle something like that.
