Splash Guards on 2013 Equinox and the hood shield

I just bought an Equinox and want to add the splash guards and the molded hood guard. Are there predrilled holes for those is I install them myself? The dealer was $130 to install them.

Welcome to the Forum boards,,, and no, not all mounting points for the splash guards are per drilled and neither for the hood guard.

Just installed the Splash Guards, you have to drill a couple holes, but very easy install.

You will need a 3/32" and 5/16" drill bits.

Also, for the rears, makes it a lot easier to remove the wheels for clearance for drilling. On the fronts, you can just turn the wheels.

If you've got the tools, save yourself the $130.00

Do not fear - the hole are only into plastic - not into metal !

Just to add, pre-drilling for the splash guards isn't necessary if you don't have a drill. The provided screws can be tapped right into the plastic by themselves. A little tricky to get started but once they do they thread right through.
Provides a tighter fit some believe vs pre-drilling holes.

I believe this has been discussed earlier here on the Forum.

Either way, it's a relatively easy install

Use the $130 for gas lol

Well, there is a spot on each side where you have to drill a 5/16" hole for a push pin fastener.

Not sure if the US kit is different from the Canadian kit but there are no plastic nail push pins to install (just the removal of the OEM one that exists ).

Ours come supplied with 4 metal screws and a couple metal clips ( for two of the screws), no plastic nails are used.

Re: Splash Guards on 2013 Equinox and the hood shield

I have to agree. There was no push pins when I installed mine on my Terrain.

As others have said, It CAN be done without drilling. What I did was used a smaller drill bit than mentioned in the instructions, which gave me a tighter fit. Also, I used a small dremel tool with a drill bit attachment that worked without removing the rear tires.

Took a little over an hour for front and back.

As far as the hood guard, never been a big fan of them. But thats just me.

Re: Splash Guards on 2013 Equinox and the hood shield

I'm new so I can't post a link yet, but on mine, part # 19211673 (Rears) you have to drill a 5/16" hole and install an included Push pin fastener in addition to the other screws.
