Service Stabiltrak and abs light comes on

I have a 2011 V6 terrain with about 28000 miles on it. I bought this car new in 2011 and have never had any trouble with it. A few weeks ago while driving under normal conditions, the service stabilitrak message along with the abs light came on. There was no difference in driving and then few minutes later the message and light went off. Been driving it since with no problems and then yesterday when I started the car the message and light came on again. I pulled out of the driveway and message and light went off. Since there is no difference in the way car is driving and the message and light goes right back off I am wondering what could be making this happen. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You could have a sensor that is starting to go bad.
A bad or dirty wheel sensor would give you these issues.

Your first step would be to get it scanned to check for a DTC in the system.
Auto Zone, dealer, independent shop, etc could do this.

That's was the problem with mine too. I believe the code will tell you which wheel (if memory serves)

Although this isn't probably your issue, I did find this interesting and may be of help with someone with more miles / other issues.

I just replace front struts of a Traverse with about 150,000 miles. Before taking it in for an alignment the next Monday, we noticed the wheels were way out of alignment and the warning lights came on like yours. I read on another forum that a bad alignment could confuse the stabiltrac system. Seemed weird to me but... I pulled the lower strut bolts and more carefully, repositioned each strut since the aftermarket strut holes were oval, allowing adjustment. Although far from perfect, it was much closer. The lights stayed off and after alignment, hasn't come back on either.

I just had similar issue on my 13 Nox a couple weeks ago. It would come on and then go off when driving a few days until the errors became constant. On mine the LF sensor was the issue, my extended warranty paid for the new hub assembly. Bearing itself was not noisy, just the bad sensor but you replace the entire hub to fix.

Here is a brief article describing Stabilitrak and what it does.
It is suspicious that both your ABS and Service Stabilitrak come on then go off at the same time. Check brake fluid level is first thing I would do. Stabilitrak uses your ABS system to assist with steering when the car senses it is not moving in the same direction you are aiming the wheels. If brake fluid level OK, you might have someone look at your brakes to ensure they are functioning properly. It could be the Stabilitrak (yaw) sensor, but I would expect your car to throw codes if that is the case. You can always take your car to Autozone, they will scan your car with an OBDII scanner and it will tell you if there are any codes that come up. They do this for free.
