Not sure if I am going crazy but I feel like everytime i pull my truck in the garage there is an odor of gas.

Sort of like if you spilled iton your car when filling up or if you poured from a can into lawnmower.  It lasts for a while then disappates.  Sometimes I get the smell in the cabin as well.

Has anyone else run into this??

Haven't smelled it in the cabin, but I'm sure I did smell it yesterday when checking the oil.
I got some on my fingers when I was wiping the dipstick and noticed a gasoline type odour.
I'm going to mention it to our Dealer when we get back from vacation.

******UPDATE*******

So, I brought the Terrain in this AM.  I figured with all the snow (18 inches) they may have a light day there today.  I was right.  I was the first one in 30 mins after they opened.

Aside from not giving me an AWD or to a lesser extent an SUV for a loaner, things went OK.  More on that later.  The advisor set me up in the system  and then proceeded to show me all TSB for the vehicle.

The Campaign 09333 for the EVAP canister was the initial self diagnosis.  We then found one for Chemical damage in the gas tank (Campaign 10009),  She said they would look into both for me.

Three hours later I get the phone call.  They smelled the gas in the cabin and down in the wheel well were I told them.  They proceeded to clamp off the fuel line from the tank.  The fuel pump sends the gas through the line with 60 lbs of pressure she said to a secondary pump up near the engine.  That pump sends the gas into the manifold with 600 lbs of pressure.

So, with the existing gas in the line they looked for leaks up front b/c the smell was eminating from there.  Nothing leaking from the fuel pump intake.  However, from the secondary fuel pump there is piping that runs along the manifold and I guess leads to the fuel rail and direct injection ports.

The pipe on the left side had a leak.  It was leaking onto the manifold.  They didn’t have the part but are getting on from Philly.  Hopefully will be fixed by tomorrow.  IF not Monday. They will not give it back to me b/c the engine is apart…manifold is off.

I told them this is my family vehicle and I need it for the  weekend.  The Enterprise rental car rep said he would look for an SUV for me and replace it out.  Very accommodating.

I will update more as it happens.

I have been meaning to update.

Parts came in from Philly this morning.  Technician did the install and test drove. No more gas smell on start up nor in my garage.

They had the car finished and returned it to me before they closed for the day. Was quite happy.  They also received my front mats and surprised me with those in the truck.  Nocar wash though.: (

I also notice a difference in the way the car starts.  Before it cranked for a while (2-3 seconds) before catching now its a solid start.

Overall, very happy with the dealer and fix.

I started smelling gas also. I found a leak on a line going into the engine on the discharge side of the HP pump. I have a meeting with a Region Rep on Monday to check my very loud engine tapping and I will show him the leak.

Let me know if they want to contact my dealer regarding the issue.  IF they give you a hard time it is always good to know it existed somewhere else and you canshow them.

I have no problem giving my dealer contact info and let them look at my case.

NY_Joe,

Do you have any way of scanning and posting the "ticket" with the repair listed?  That way, others have the same problem could take that to their dealer.

Yeah, I would have done that but I am at work right now.  Been on the run since Friday night so haven't been on my desktop to do anything.

I also want to scan my ticket from accessories for that thread as well.

My gas leak was solved this past week by replacement of the HP pump. Both the dealer service mgr and regional rep helped resolve this issue.

You would think that GM would make it possible to enter your vin and get a list of pending recalls.

Are there any current recalls for the 4 cylinder AWD without the NAV or DVD system?  We are heading South soon in our new Terrain and I would want to take it to the dealer before we leave if need be.

Call your dealer and speak to a service advisor.  Theycan look up your VINand see what is open.

Actually they do.  If you subscribe to the yahoo group and register your vehicle, they do list pending recalls.

http://gmownercenter.yahoo.com/

I had looked for something like that a couple times and never saw it.  Now I do.  Thanks.  Says:  Pending Recalls (0).
