I'm trying to get an idea of what the gender split is for this vehicle.

I'm male, but my wife was very much involved with getting a Nox(at first) then decided she wanted a more masculin design, so we got the Terrain. So I guess it's one and one.

I'm a little skeptical of this poll being an actual representation of whether men or women are buying Terrains. I say this because typically men are the forum dwellers. I've been in Ford, Harley, Nissan and other forums and they are all usually over 90% men. So the results will not be representative of the actual gender ending up in this vehicle.

Very good point. But GMC obviously targeted feminine clientele with the ''easy looking'' Equinox 2010. The terrain is a polarized SuV. You will like, or not, his square shape. Nevertheless, youre right about whos stickin around, in cars forums.

The Equinox is more [for lack of a better word] feminine.

I just voted, so that makes 2 women being counted who are buying Terrains! When I first saw the Equinox, I thought: "Oo! This is the vehicle for me in a Gold Metallic Mist!" Then, my daughter said I should take a look at the Terrain. My initial reaction was "E-yew! It's way too masculine looking for me; especially since the Equinox and Terrain have the same mileage and similar features/options - Why get such an in your face car?" But, once I saw each vehicle at the dealer...I liked that the Terrain is different. So, I ordered the top trim model in Merlot. Since I'm going to be riding in a Bold Terrain, might as well go with a Bold color!

Feminine?.. Once I get my high heels on, I coming over to b-slap you! I didn't mean feminine. It's more stylist than truck-ish. That's what I meant. I, myself, like the Nox. I could definitely see myself buying one. I just like the look of the Terrain better.

My wife wanted an Equinox until she saw both vehicles. The Terrain stood out more to her and she like the projector headlights better. We werent going to get leather so the heated cloth seats sold the Terrain to her.
Me, I liked the Terrain better since day one. The 'Nox is more of a copy of the whole CUV segment and blends in too much for my taste.

Terrain replaced my wife's 2005 Pontiac Aztek Rally AWD. Terrain has the muscular nature of a GMC on the outside, but the look and feel of a sportier Pontiac on the inside...

Sales numbers show the Nox selling more than the Terrain. It must be all those "polarizing" reviews.
One thing that struck me as interesting is that this vehicle (the Terrain) is bringing in buyers that are not traditional GMC or GM buyers, for that matter. I fall into this category. I have always considered myself a Ford loyalist. I've owned four of them--2 Mustangs, F-150 & Ranger. I never thought I would like any GM product until now. I will be purchasing a GMC Terrain. What brought me into this segment is the following;
1. Utility 2. Ability to tow my 2 motorcycles 3. Gas mileage
I've been looking around for a small or midsize SUV and out of all of the ones out there...the Terrain looks best IMO inside and out.

I too was a Ford guy. Moved from a Triton V8 F150 to the I4 FWD Terrain. I'm still adjusting to it, but so far it is fulfilling my needs. Handy enough cargo space, ability to tow a motorcycle or two and the mileage (while not quite as advertised) doesn't hurt either. I see the Terrain as more of a guy's vehicle (no offense to the female owners here). I strongly relate the GMC brand to trucks.

My wife likes the Terrain over the Equinox. The Terrain stands alone in styling (IMO) while the Equinox looks similar to a lot of the other SUV's in this class. (IMO)

I'm a women. It's my car, but I choose it over the equinox cause my husband liked the body so much. Also, I love this forum. My husband has never been on it or any forum.

I'm a guy and I chose the Equinox over the Terrain for two reasons: 1. Not a total fan of the squared off exterior design of the Terrain (I guess not everyone is a "truck guy")
2. I could get all the features I wanted for less in the Equinox. I couldn't justify the premium when the interiors of the Nox and Terrain are *exactly* the same.

Just for the record, I'm a woman ha ha! I agree with bballr though - I like the way both look, but I also like to be different (I had a Pontiac Aztek that I loved, and most recently was driving an Aqua Blue HHR)...So I like the squared off fenders, and more masculine looks of the Terrain. Whereas I think the Nox is a very good looking vehicle, but has the more rounded like of other CUVs on the road it has that hummerish look to it.
